Bologna Motorshow Euro 3000 Sprint, December 8th-9th 2002

Action at the 2002 event

For a second successive year the F3000 action at the Bologna Motorshow was for the Euro 3000 teams. This year the series was running the Lola B99/50, so the newer Lola made its return for the first time since 1999, when a sprint event was held for International F3000.

On Sunday 8th of December there was free practice and timed practice, while on Monday 9th there was qualifying, quarter-finals, semi-finals, the final for third place, and the final for the overall win.

Ex-Jaguar F1 test driver Andre Lotterer ultimately took the overall win, the German making his F3000 debut with Uboldi Corse. He recently making his CART debut with Dale Coyne Racing at Mexico City. The runner-up in the final for 1st and 2nd was Marco Cioci (Victory Engineering), the Italian having matched his result from 2001. Fabrizio Gollin (GP Racing) won the final for third place from Gabriele Lancieri (ADM Motorsport).
