Bologna Motorshow F3000 Sprint, December 11th 2000
(for F3000 Italia teams)
The short, indoor 586 metre track (above) hosted F3000 Italia Lola T96/50 machinery alone this year. The entry list included 8 drivers, amongst them the reigning F3000 Italia champion Ricardo Sperafico and newcomer Gabriele de Bono. As usual cars ran in pairs, with elimination races leaving four drivers in the semi-finals, the winners at this stage racing in a final for the overall win. The losers in the semi-finals raced each other for the honour of third place. The cars run on grooved tyres to increase the spectacle at the event which is primarily for entertainment.
Ricardo Sperafico won the year 2000 Bologna Motorshow indoor sprint by defeating Gabriele Lancieri in the finals. Brazil's Sperafico therefore took first place in the final classification from Lancieri, Gianluca Calcagni and Thomas Biagi. In one of the semi-finals, Sperafico won from '99 winner Biagi, while Lancieri defeated Calcagni in the other. In the second final, to determine third position, Calcagni beat Biagi.
