21st March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Hill signs for Jordan GP Junior Team American Derek Hill has signed to race in FIA F3000 for Super Nova Racing, which will enter as the Jordan Grand Prix Junior Team this season. Derek, the son of former F1 champion Phil Hill, will partner Enrico Toccacelo. After graduating from Italian F3000, Hill raced a full International season for DAMS in 2001 and contested part of last year's campaign with Durango. The silly season page has been updated.

 

21st March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Horner chosen as F3000 team representative Arden International boss Christian Horner has been voted in by fellow FIA F3000 teams as their representative for communicating with FIA boss Max Mosley and F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone (source: Autosport).

 

19th March 2003 - Euro 3000:

Sperafico #4 joins F3000 with ADM This season will see a fourth member of Brazil's Sperafico family make his F3000 racing debut. Rafael Sperafico, a cousin of Ricardo, Rodrigo and Alex, signed on Monday afternoon to race for ADM Motorsport in Euro 3000 (sources: Grande Premio / italiaracing.net). He is moving to Europe after a successful season in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, where he finished as runner-up to A.J. Allmendinger. Sperafico will partner Italian Gianmaria "Gimmi" Bruni at ADM. The silly season page has been updated. It has also emerged that it was Rafael, not Alex, who was testing with ADM at Vallelunga recently. The times have been amended here.

 

15th March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Coloni in Formula Renault team link-up Top F3000 team Coloni Motorsport have linked up with Formula Renault UK team Motaworld Racing, Autosport has confirmed. Motaworld will develop drivers who could then graduate to Coloni's Italian F3 or F3000 teams. As part of the deal, Coloni have placed Matteo Meneghello, who is managed by the Italian squad, with Motaworld for the forthcoming season.

 

15th March 2003 - Euro 3000:

Vallelunga testing: Farfus fastest Official group testing took place at Vallelunga on Thursday and Friday, with Draco's Augusto Farfus setting the pace with 1m03.77s, ahead of "Babalus", testing for Scuderia Famà, and Traini Corse's Matteo Grassotto. Times are available here. As well as "Babalus", a number of other drivers made surprise appearances at the test, as teams continue to evaluate drivers for the coming season; Alessandro Piccolo, Matteo Cressoni and Wagner Ebrahim (Euronova), Alexandre Sperafico (ADM), Peter Boss (John Village), Phil Giebler (Team Ghinzani). 15th March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Mazzacane likely at BCN F3000 Former F1 driver Gaston Mazzacane looks increasingly likely to race for BCN F3000 this season. So far the team have confirmed in this press release at F3000.com that the Argentinian will drive for them in the Jerez collective tests, which begin on March 25th.

 

11th March 2003 - Euro 3000:

Draco shakedown cars at Vairano The Draco Junior Team were in action for the first time this season with a shakedown test at Vairano in Italy (source: italiaracing.net). Augusto Farfus set the pace in the Lola B99/50 with 54.3 seconds, while rookie teammate Sven Heidfeld was close behind with 54.5. The various winter tests page has been updated.

 

11th March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Spa race cancelled The International F3000 championship has received a blow with the news that the resurrected Spa-Francorchamps race has again been cancelled. Initially it was assumed the race was cancelled along with the Belgian Grand Prix, but a joint date with the FIA Sportscar Championship had recently been confirmed. However, an FOM spokesperson has now confirmed the plan has been abandoned. The calendar has been updated.

 

11th March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Mazzacane in negotiations with BCN F3000 Former F1 driver Gaston Mazzacane could return to F3000 this year. Recently the Argentinian has been in negotiations with new team BCN F3000. The candidates for the second seat are said to be Angel Burgueño, Marcel Costa and Kevin Nadin, all of whom have tested for the squad at Imola (source: italiaracing.net).

 

3rd March 2003 - Euro 3000:

New squad "Imola Racing" enters Euro 3000 According to italiaracing.net, a new society called Imola Racing has been set up by the three associates Roberto Petroncini, Gabriele Lancieri and Franco Sighinolfi. They will run two cars in Euro 3000, driven by veteran Lancieri and newcomer Nicky Pastorelli, who graduates from Italian Formula Renault. Sighinolfi will be the team manager. Imola Racing will also enter three cars in Italian F3 (managed by Sighinolfi and Loris Mannucci), and two cars in Italian Formula Renault (managed by Maurizio Facondini). They are also looking at the possibility of competing in the Italian Prototypes Championship with a CR2 sportscar. The centre where the racing teams is based will also offer track days and sell racing equipment. The silly season page has been updated.

 

3rd March 2003 - Euro 3000:

Del Monte signs for GP Racing Italian Fabrizio Del Monte has signed to race for GP Racing in this season's Euro 3000 championship, italiaracing.net confirms. The former Team Ghinzani driver will partner Russia's Roman Rusinov. The silly season page has been updated.

 

3rd March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Coloni confirm Italian F3 line-up International F3000 team Coloni Motorsport will return to Italian F3 this year with two Lola-Dome F106/03-Mugen Honda chassis for Christian Montanari and Marco Bonanomi (source: colonimotorsport.com). Montanari made his Euro 3000 debut for GP Racing in last year's Cagliari race, finishing sixth.

 

3rd March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Driver signings round-up Brazil's Ricardo Sperafico has signed to race for Coloni Motorsport, where he will partner Zsolt Baumgartner; a spokeswoman for Brand Motorsport has stated: "Both of the drivers (Nicolas Minassian and Gary Paffett) are confirmed for 2003, and we are looking forward to topping the times at the next tests at Jerez and Barcelona." 3rd March 2003 - FIA International F3000:

Official testing round-up Red Bull Junior Team driver Patrick Friesacher emerged quickest from the official two-day testing at Imola on February 20th-21st, with a time of 1m35.345s. Bjorn Wirdheim (Arden) was second quickest overall with 1:36.048, with rookie Vitantonio Liuzzi (Red Bull) an impressive third at 1:36.530. Times are available here.
