Seren Merinda Megan Evans
Pictures of our daughter Seren, taken within a few hours of the birth.

Rhian was only 38 weeks into the pregnancy when her waters broke on Friday 22nd February 2002. Went into Princess Margaret hospital (Swindon, UK) but she was only 1cm dilated on arrival, so she was told to stay in overnight and wait it out. Her contractions started up around 4am next morning (Saturday 23rd), and after a painful but thankfully brief labour she gave birth just after 7am.

As with Dylan, this was a drug free labour. Our only pain relieving device was a lavender scented hotpack, which we couldn't use in the end because the hospital's microwaves were strictly for food only...

For the factually minded, her birthweight was 3 kilos (6 lb 10 oz). Her length was not measured (NHS policy, apparently.) Seren is a Welsh name meaning 'star'. Merinda is an Australian Aboriginal name meaning 'beautiful woman'. Megan is the name of her great-grandmother and her second cousin.
